Recap: One Fell Swoop at the NRLS

Posted on 1 Jul 2026

The National Retirement Living Summit (NRLS) is always one of the senior living sector’s great events, and the latest summit was no exception. We were thrilled to be in the thick of the action, contributing to critical industry conversations and proudly supporting the event.

It was a fantastic few days of networking, learning and celebration. We were especially proud to be sponsor some of the awards at the Gala Night, celebrating the incredible talent and innovation across our sector. And, if you were on the ground at the summit, we hope you stayed hydrated with our water bottles, featuring our very own National Sales Director, Tim Grover.

Beyond the fun and festivities, we also had the privilege of leading one of the summit’s most timely and important discussions.

‘On the stage: Shared Ground, Stronger Futures’

A major highlight for us was seeing One Fell Swoop Partner Stuart Nicolson take the stage to moderate a standout session: ‘Shared ground, stronger futures: where partnership meets potential’.

Joined by industry experts Amanda Walker (Head of Property and Development at Tulich Group) and Tom Roche (CEO of Pariter), Stuart led a deep dive into how retirement village operators are successfully unlocking growth through strategic partnerships with sports clubs, faith-based groups, RSLs, and community organisations.

With well-located sites becoming more difficult to secure and the demand for retirement living continuing to climb, the panel explored why these partnerships are fast becoming one of the sector’s most compelling opportunities.

Key takeaways from the panel included:

  • Unlocking untapped potential: Many community and faith-based organisations hold prime, well-located land with untapped development potential. Partnering with retirement living operators offers them a powerful way to diversify their revenue while strengthening their core community missions.
  • Structuring win-win deals: Drawing on standout case studies, Stuart, Amanda and Tom unpacked the mechanics of these collaborations. They discussed exactly how to identify the right opportunities, structure deals and navigate the complex design and operational realities required to build partnerships that genuinely deliver for both sides.
  • Innovation as a necessity: The overriding message from the session was clear. Navigating an increasingly competitive site market requires creativity. The ability to think differently about land, capital and collaboration will be a defining capability for operators looking to grow in the years ahead.

Thank you to the event organisers and everyone who joined us, stopped to grab a ‘Tim’ water bottle, or chatted with us at the gala. We look forward to continuing these conversations and helping our clients build the strategic partnerships that will shape the future of retirement living.
