Our final tours of IST2025 took place in Seattle, a city known for its innovation, stunning waterfront and rich culture. Upon arrival we heard from With a Little Help, a company that support seniors across the greater Seattle area. They gave us some valuable perspectives on home care and ageing in place.

On our last day, we visited Bayview Seattle, a dynamic senior living community. This began with a panel discussion led by the leadership team, who shared their perspectives on ageing, innovation, and the importance of resident engagement. Residents then guided us around the community, offering first-hand experiences and personal stories that illustrated the vibrancy of life at Bayview.

From there, the group continued on to Aegis Madison. While not a new development, it demonstrated forward-thinking approaches to Memory Care and showcased its much-loved Sky Lounge, a space that encourages connection and social interaction.

The day also included a visit to Era Living’s Aljoya Thornton Place, a community that beautifully combines village charm with contemporary design. With its emphasis on joy and wellbeing, Aljoya offered not only elegant residences and excellent dining but also a wide range of services that supported a fulfilling lifestyle. An inspiring example of how city energy can blend seamlessly with a peaceful, community-oriented way of life.

In the evening, the group came together for a memorable farewell dinner, with a wrap up from OFS’s Stuart Nicolson sharing reflections on the insights gained, the communities visited and the friendships built, bringing the journey to a celebratory close.

“What a tour! IST2025 has been as enlightening as it has been enjoyable. We’ve uncovered some brilliant ideas about ageing, wellness and community — and more than a few that we’ll be keen to ‘borrow’ for back home,” Stuart said. “We’ve shared plenty of laughs and discovered that innovation doesn’t have to be intimidating — sometimes it’s just about a great story, a thoughtful design, or even a really good Sky Lounge. I couldn’t be prouder of the insights we’re bringing back and the spirit in which we found them.”
